Many diabetic people find it hard to resist delicacies such as ice cream, brownies, or cakes covered with syrup. It becomes more challenging for them if they want to lose weight as well. Also, relying only on sugar free diet does not guarantee weight loss in case of a diabetic person.

Experts recommend having nearly five servings of fruits and vegetables everyday, around 6 servings of breads and cereals, only 2-3 servings of low-fat milk or yogurt, and very small quantity of sweets or desserts in daily diet.
There are certain tips to deal with your temptions though! For example, while dining out, it is a good idea to share a meal or dessert with your partner; else you could be overloaded with unwanted calories. Most of the foods that contain “no sugar added” labels actually contain lots of sugar. In fact, many such foods contain as many calories as other types of food do. You can stay healthy if you eat sugar free diet, but it is a good idea to follow some more useful tips on losing weight. For example, regular exercise helps a diabetic person to cut down on excessive fat and calories. In addition, a diabetic person should never skip breakfast as doing so can be unhealthy for him/her and it might also force the person to eat more food while having next meal.
