How to Lose Weight With Increasing Age?
There are numerous changes in our body between 35 to 55 years of age. Unfortunately, most of these changes are only for worse. Moreover, it becomes difficult to gain or lose weight with increasing age. Less activity, high calorie intake, and loss of muscles are three primary reasons for weight gain among men and women of this age. Other than this, there are psychological reasons such as personal and professional pressures, which also trigger weight gain among people of this age group.
Men at this age experience a steady decline of the sex hormone called as testosterone. Less hormones in men lead to loss of muscle and lean tissue, which indicates that men need less calories with age. In case, men continue to have the normal diet, they are likely to gain weight. On the other hand, some men make a mistake of excessively cutting down the calorie intake to as low as 1200 calories everyday. Remember, excessive reduction of calories is likely to affect the metabolic rate too. This is because the body requires more protein to produce enzymes or antibodies. Hence, it is important not to skip meals as you face the risk of overeating at the next meal. If you are not left with much time to cook your meals, you can consume your favorite fruits in large quantities without even worrying about excessive energy intake.
It is often seen that women are prone to start gaining weight just few years before the menopause. This happens when estrogen levels in their bodies start declining. Just like men, women should also not try to excessively cut down on their calorie intake. On the other hand, you can eat small meals, which are highly nutritious and contain lots of fiber and minerals. Also try to increase your activity level, which may also help you in controlling the increasing weight gain with age.
Remember, if you follow a regular exercise schedule at your middle age, you can significantly lower the rate at which you are gain weight.
